Holiday park horror as woman dies after caravan catches fire on bank holiday

Firefighters tackled the fire and were able to extinguish the flames within half an hour.

However, Essex Police have since confirmed a woman died following the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown as investigators work to establish how it started.

In a statement, police said: “A woman has sadly died following a fire at a caravan park in Clacton.

“Our officers are working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire.

“Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by today’s tragic events.”

Nearby London Road was temporarily blocked to allow emergency services to access the park.

The death is the second tragedy to strike on Bank Holiday Monday.

A woman’s body was pulled from the River Thames early this morning.

Thames Valley Police say officers are treating the death as unexplained after her body was discovered the water at Boulters Lock, in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Officers are working to establish the circumstances and to identify the woman’s next of kin.
